Corker: Reg Reform Deal Is 'Imminent'

"A key Senate Republican said today lawmakers should 'chill' while negotiators work on a financial reform deal in the Senate Banking Committee so that speculation on the bill will not complicate the process.
Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said a deal is 'imminent,' adding that critics 'are going to have the opportunity to rip this apart very soon.' He made his comments at a National Journal panel that included Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., another key Banking panel member, as a speaker.
Corker and Warner said the effort would be comprehensive and strong, despite consumer groups' claims that the protracted process will lead to a watered-down final measure."
